I am a founding member of the Sing for Freedom Choir, closely involved from when it began in 2016 as an inclusive activity for clients and staff of Freedom from Torture to enjoy together. I have been serving on the choir committee since the choir has been run by Together Productions. I also sing in Together Productions’ other choir, The Mixed Up Chorus.
I work in the philanthropy and events team at Freedom from Torture raising funds to support its work with survivors of torture in the UK. Prior to that, I had a long career in architectural recruitment working for a small consultancy in London. When the CEO of Freedom from Torture decided to set up a choir for survivors and staff, I thought it was a brilliant idea not just because I love to sing and for the chance to sing during the working day, but also to meet and sing with survivors. Both of the choirs have a wonderful warmth and inclusivity while also stretching and developing members’ musical skills. I have degrees in History, Politics and Education. I love to travel, and am a keen cyclist, runner and wild swimmer.
Favourite Together Productions Moment: I love to perform, so this would have to be the wonderful Singing our Lives concerts, particularly singing on the stage of Milton Court at the Barbican.
