Sohee Baek

Music Leader Intern, Mixed Up Chorus

I am a South Korean composer, pianist, and arranger based in London. I'm currently pursuing a master’s degree in electronic music at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, specialising in film music.

I have been actively involved in various projects, including live performances at renowned London venues such as St Giles Cripplegate, Somerset House, Courtauld Gallery, Milton Court Concert Hall, and Barbican Cinema. As a film composer, I collaborate globally with independent filmmakers and animators from institutions like MET Film School, Central Saint Martins, and Chung-Ang University.

In 2022–23, I was selected as one of five composers for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s Film Composers Lab. In addition to my composition work, I play piano for churches and the Mixed-Up Chorus.

Favourite TP moment: It was the first session I attended! I'm currently accompanying the Mixed Up Chorus, but my first session was Sing for Freedom in April 2023. I was a bit nervous because it was my first time working with a choir and meeting new people outside of school or work since moving to London. However, the members' warm and powerful music instantly made me feel both comfortable and excited. I really love being surrounded by such wonderful people who share a love for singing together!
